Alagalla mountain
This mountain is perfect for a day trip. If you take the train to Kandy and get off at the Ihala Kotte railway station, you will find the foot of Alagalla hill and the beginning of the path to the top of the hill that falls across the railway line.
There are several villages on either side of this road (I do not remember much about it as it has been about 5 years since I went there) and from there to the top of the hill (beyond two or three tea estates) there are some dense forests and grasslands. Therefore, do not forget to carry enough water as you do on any mountain. This route may be a bit difficult due to the weather. Also, somewhere you will find an area covered with thorn bushes that is not even a dimension until shade is visible. Although this takes relatively little time to climb, do not underestimate this. If you are not properly prepared, you will face great difficulties, especially if the day is high in humidity and sunshine. Because the top of the mountain is covered with rocks, the sun’s heat doubles and triples.
But do not hesitate. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking. From there you can see a breathtaking view of Batalegala Mountain and Hanthana, Knuckles One Range. Also, if you are new to mountaineering, Mount Alagalla is a good place to start.
