TRCSL announces that it is in the final stages of a portable legal process
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) launched its preliminary work last August to introduce the Number Portability service to the Sri Lankan public to enable them to obtain the same telephone number from every telephone service provider.
Accordingly, they conducted a public consultation on this number portability service last January. Accordingly, the Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Aushadha Senanayake, had stated that he hoped to obtain the necessary practical and technical assistance from the Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan for this purpose.
On June 26, they wrote on the official Twitter account of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka that they were in the final stages of the legal process for the Number Portability service.
Accordingly, they further stated that the establishment of a central clearance agency and systems through all telephone operators and the legal process required to formalize the operating framework are in the final stages.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has previously stated that it expects to introduce this number portability service to consumers by 2022.
