From today, the service charges of telephone and internet facilities will increase as follows
In view of the crisis that Sri Lanka is facing, the prices of all goods and services available in the market have increased. Accordingly, last June, the government announced an increase in telecommunication taxes, and the prices of telephone packages also increased accordingly.
And recently, all the communication companies issued a joint announcement stating that as a result of the continuous increase in the value of the dollar, due to the increase in their operating costs, they have had to increase the relevant fees for their services from the 5th of this month (i.e. today).
Accordingly, the charges for mobile, fixed telephone, broadband plans and additional services (prepaid and postpaid) have been increased by 20% and the charges for all Pay Television services have been increased by 25% with the approval of the Sri Lanka Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Dialog, Mobitel and Hutch have published new tariffs on their websites. The other companies have not yet published the new tariffs on their websites and the Sri Lanka Telecommunication Regulatory Commission approved the tariff revisions submitted by all the communication service providers on the Sri Lanka Telecommunication Regulatory Commission website. It has also been posted on the site.
In addition to the increase in fees, the government has recently increased the VAT rate for all telecommunication services and Pay TV services from 12% to 15%.
Thus, the implementation of the new tariffs will be effective from the 5th of this month (today).
