Nadungamuwa Raja Tusker โ The Tallest Tamed Tusker
Nedungamuwe Raja was an Indian tusker born around 1953 in Mysore. Raja is one of the two baby elephants gifted by the Maharaja of Mysore to the local physician Neelammahara at the Piliyandala Neelammahara Temple in retaliation for curing a relative’s chronic illness, and the other is the now deceased Gangarama. In the year 1978, Dharmavijaya Veda Ralahamy (father of the present owner Harsha Dharmavijaya) of Nedungamuwa area, who was a well known Ayurvedic doctor at that time, named the second owner Uduwa Walawwa in Horana after the village Nedungamuwa which has been inhabited ever since.
